Lochinvar National Park

Lochinvar is situated on the southern edge of the Kafue flats, a wide floodplain of the Kafue River and is divided into three distinct zones – the northern floodplain, the central grassland and the southern woodland. The park is particularly well known for the large herds of graceful Kafue lechwe, unique to the Kafue Flats.

Buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and oribi are found grazing the grassy plains and kudu are also present. Although comparatively small – covering just 410 square kilometres – Lochinvar is one of Africa’s finest bird sanctuaries with 428 species recorded, including a few rarities.
