Samburu National Park

Samburu National Park is linked to Buffalo Springs and Shaba by the mighty Ewaso Nyiro River, which is not only the life blood for vast numbers of wildlife in the park, but also the bordering local Masai communities.

All three reserves offer unique vistas of rounded and rugged hills and undulating plains with a mix of wood and grassland with riverine forest and swamp.

Due to the high concentrations of water the park is blessed with large numbers of elephants, the rare Reticulated giraffe and Grievy’s Zebra along with lions, leopards and cheetahs. However one of the more unusual sights of the Samburu national park are the herds of camels managed by the Masai, and camel safaris offered by some camps, make an interesting alternative to the regular walking or 4x4 safaris.
