Unlike Lake Nakuru which is a soda lake, Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake attracting a great deal of game to it’s shores, like giraffe, buffalo, hippo and colobus monkeys, but the big attraction makes this a birdwatchers dream with rare and unusual sightings of hoopoe, woodpeckers, rollers, shrikes, hawks, cuckoos, kingfisher, heron, jacanas and Africa’s largest population of fish eagles.

The lake is 13kms wide but only up to 5 metres in depth and the overall size can vary dramatically depending on the levels of rainfall.
For safari goers, stops at Lake Naivasha are linked with Hell’s Gate National Park, so named for its red topped mountain ranges and steaming hot springs. An ideal location for those visitors wishing to get out of the vehicle and explore the sights on foot.
