Resting peacefully on the riverbank, in a grove of mahogany and acacia trees, the Chiawa Camp is constructed essentially of natural materials, and is designed to ensure its idyllic setting can be fully appreciated.

Sixteen guests can be accommodated in 8 well-appointed safari tents, each on a raised timber deck with private veranda. All tents are under thatch, have en-suite facilities with hot & cold running water, twin or double beds, insect screens and solar powered lighting. The camp also offers for guests looking for something a little special, a honeymoon tent with claw-foot Victorian bath overlooking the Zambezi and a Superior Safari tent with open air Victorian bath and separate tree shower.

The spacious lounge and bar area has an observation platform built into its roof, providing one of the best views in the valley. Of course the dining area also looks out onto the river and the animals, which regularly come to drink and feed at and near the lodge.

Safari activities include game drives morning and evening, guided bush walks, canoeing along the riverbank provide excellent viewing of birds and other wildlife or relax on the comfortable pontoon boats for a river safari. Expert guides cater for all levels of anglers and you have an opportunity to catch the world’s toughest of fresh water fish - the Tigerfish.

Enjoy barbeques under the stars on our al-fresco dining veranda, while your hosts oversee your comfort and the preparation of Chiawa’s renowned cuisine. Chiawa welcomes children of 12 years and older, children younger than 12 years require prior and special arrangement.

Guests can fly into Lusaka or Livingstone Airport (to clear customs and immigration) and then connect with an air transfer to Jeki or Royal Airstrip. From Jeki it is an hour game drive and from Royal a 20 minute boat ride to the camp.
