Gombe camp is situated at Mitumba, near the Mitumba stream at the northern end of the Park set on the lakeshore, it has a exclusive beach and all the tents are under big shady trees, providing guests with a combination of luxury and conservation. There is a small reception area situated on the beach made out of local wood and a thatched roof with a wooden deck raised above the ground. The building also accommodates a library, information centre, a curio shop, a bar and a lounge. For those who would like to relax, the beach has locally made cushioned lounge beds to laze on. The tents are made of heavy-duty canvas material with ample space to relax and walk around in and well ventilated with zip down gauze windows and roll up flap doors placed on raised wooden platforms to enhance the view. The décor has been specifically chosen to give you the African Safari experience. Meals at the camp are a sumptuous affair. Breakfasts are American style with emphasis on tropical fruits and juices. Lunches are usually light. Evening meals are three courses. The specialty of our camp is the Sangara, Kuhe, Mgebuka and Dagaa fish caught fresh from Lake Tanganyika by the local fishermen. We also serve traditional African dishes such as Coconut Banana Meat Stew and Casava chips etc. Dinner is usually served in the beach and the last evening of your stay at the camp will be a barbeque on the beach. |
